Hmm, I have appetite for something.

Now, I already said in a Livejournal I am not overly fond of the AAA gaming industry as a whole at the moment, because... the mayority of games is just boring to me, because all this "wide-audience" stuff as companies like EA and Activisiont ry to shove out every year is just... bland as hell. Thus, I am actually really not going to buy a new console and stick with my current PC till Bethesda released a new Elder Scrolls or Fallout.
However, I am now curious about playing good games, that actually are fresh, so I am now going to ask, if some of my watchers may have suggestions for me for a game. And I may say I mainly would prefer a game with some of the following traits. Not all, but some.

1.) A Female Protagonist (or the Option)
2.) A non-Human Protagonist (or the Option)
3.) A good single-player experience.
4.) Long Play Time.
5.) Likeable characters and good story.
6.) Good Gameplay that doesn't bore or frustrate me.
7.) Playable on PC or Playstation 3.
8.) Not a military FPS.
9.) Funny, yet still serious with it's story.

I would love to hear any suggestion and hope there is something that really catches my interest.

And now to another topic, my current pool about a character being either a tanuki or kitsune. I actually had the character in progress since I had decided what I wanted to do with Kolya. So far, the concept developed a lot lately and I find that now it's actually just this last decision that is left. Yokai are fascinating, especially the hengeyokai... in fact, I think Dungeons and Dragons has a race based on hengeyokai and now has actively made them playable. In any case, for my stuff the hengeyokai were limtied since I am restricting myself a little bit with the folklore. And while there are many animal yokai, I only found sufficient information about four of them. Mujina, Kitsune, Tanuki, and Kawauso. Mujina wasn't an option, since there would be too much badgers at once with one... I already have Conrad and Aldric, so I keep that concept for later. And Kawauso wasn't an option, because... for some reason the folklore about them is surprisingly vicious for a 50 cm large animal. Some legends are more those of pranksters, others are man-eaters and soul stealers... yikes, mujinas recommend healthy drinks and sing songs, Kawauso kill you. So, Tanukis and Kitsunes make the cut.

Now the character would have a clear concept of what he is in general, but some traits will be based on either of those creatures.

Kitsune: Kitsune are known for shapeshifting into women to marry men they fall in love with, honestly even. However, once their husband find out about that, a kitsune will disappear. They are able to shapeshift into many different forms, able to control fire, and... well, Firefox certainly got a lot of those traits. It is also said that kitsune gain tails every hundred years of their lives, with a maximum of 9. Every tail increases their power and wisdom.

Tanuki: They are quite cute in nature. Tanukis as yokai are well known for their abilities to transform into anything they want to, including an entire interior with a shopkeeper. The yokai is also called Bake-danuki to distinguish it from a regular one. They are good-natured creatures and while they cause mischief by tricking merchants with leaves that they make look like cold, they also help people. Not always peaceful, as there is also a story where two roups of tanuki fought a war against each other and later would have repeated it again, but in most cases tanukis are kind spirited. Their massive bellies are also usable as drums... perhaps anyone, who watched Pompoko might have an idea in general about them.

I am not sure if this matches your liking at all: secret files: Tunguska (maybe you've played it?)  (German: Geheimakte Tunguska),
I really liked it myself, at least the first game, (it has a bunch of sequels but they weren't that good ) maybe it has something to do with the fact it was one of the first puzzle games (point and click) I even played.. and it sorta brings back childhood memories.. so it might you don't like it as much as i did , and generally it god mixed reviews from critics i think XD I thought it had few pretty clever puzzles and none that were too annoying (ofc in point and clicks sometimes the thing you get stuck at is finding the tiny area to click, but i think that only happened to me  once in the whole game, happily objects highlight when you are over them, so that helps you)
One of the things people criticized about it on steam a lot was the voice acting of the main character (female) but original game is German i think.. so i think there the voice acting might be a bit better compared to the English version (and you are German so you can actually play that!) and the game a had a lot of funny bits to it too like you wanted and it also had some very exciting bits. Also the story line is interesting and visuals are very nice for it's time but some criticized the script and dialogue. I myself aren't too picky, or maybe that's cos it is a game from my childhood. There is always something to improve when it comes to those. Oh and genre is scifi i think..?
I have no idea what you'll think of it, but I totally get it if it is not for you :D
